How does Jennifer L Armentrout do it? No really how! Every single time I read one of her books, I think this can’t possibly be better than the last, and I am always proven wrong. The blend of action, romance, and humor is so much fun to read. The characters were multifaceted and has so much depth to them will be in friggin hilarious. I loved Evie struggling to live with these two sides of her self, and that her reactions and motivations were relatable. Luc... was Luc and he was freaking amazing.
I love how this book wasn’t a copy of the series before it, but rather introduced new problems with higher stakes. I enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books, but loved how the focus was mainly on the new characters and this new story. Such an amazing job thank you Jennifer L Armentrout

ARC gratefully received by the publisher during one of JLA’s signings at BookCon. The opinions in this review are unsolicited.

The Burning Shadow picks up right where The Darkest Star ends. Loose threads from the first book are woven into this book, adding to a plot that expands all the way up to the dramatic ending. Some readers may see certain elements coming, but this book is jammed-packed and full of surprises that should please fans of the first book.

This book isn’t for the faint-hearted, as the action builds quickly and doesn’t stop, and not everyone makes it through unscathed. Be prepared and clear out a weekend before you start reading this, because I assure you: you won’t want to put it down.

Man, this was so good. Angst. Action. World building. Devastation. I need the third book immediately!

Meh, . She's slightly whiney, he's full of red flags, the turns are slightly predictable. But it's good at an audiobook in the car.

I read an ARC of this. I am impressed by JLA's continued world expanding of the Luxen. What started off how many books ago is still having payoffs in this book. I love Luc, maybe even more than Daemon, because of his vulnerability underneath all that power. I love Evie for her bravery in the face of the unknown. With a whole set of newer side characters and ones returning from the original series, I can wait to read the ending to Luc and Evie's story whenever it comes.

The ending throught me for a loop. I definitely didn't see that coming. This book definitely has some major highs and lows. Laughing and crying and then some even more crying.

WOW, first time read in 2023 and rather eerie in context with what happened to the world in 2020.  No wonder the final instalment has been put on hold.
