Ugh, this book. This one was incredibly frustrating in so many ways. I don’t want to focus on that because I do truly love this series and the characters.
Could have been better in so many ways, but ah well. Not every book in a series is going to be amazing.
Very excited to finish the series!

The book is a bit slow going but man is the development and nuance to these characters amazing, I was on the edge of my sweet the entire last 60 pages. I will say that you are going to be mad at Audrey Rose so many times but that's just how people are and it makes so much sense for her to do. I cannot wait to read the next book.

“If you wish to go, I’ll never make you stay. I might not do and say the proper thing all the time, but I do know that I love you enough to set you free.”
Setting: Escaping from Houdini takes place on a boat named the RMS Etruria, a setting that lives up to the magical locations visited in the past two books in this series. The Moonlight Carnival and all that it entails is described beautifully. By now I think we all know how great Kerri Maniscalco is at creating great settings.
Characters: Audrey Rose's uncle is back!! (icon.) We also meet the many members of the mysterious Moonlight Carnival, including Mestistopheles, Houdini, Andreas, Cassiopeia, and Anishaa.
Unfortunately, our favourite couple goes through some challenges in this book. (A love triangle of sorts.) Unlike the other two novels, I felt like Escaping from Houdini focused more on the characters' growth rather than the actual mystery and murders which I think is why this book is less popular.
Overall: Still really enjoyed this book because you know, Thomas Cresswell.
