I absolutely loved Whispering Pines.
I was a little hesitant to pick this up at first because middle grade fiction can sometimes be too juvenile for my tastes, but Whispering Pines is one of those rare books that readers of every age can enjoy.
Really well done from the characters to the plot to the setting, which was deliciously atmospheric.
Definitely a recommended read.

Listened on audio book with my kid. A choice for myself? Nah. Cute thriller for middle schoolers yep. Held my attention well as an adult. Good narrator. I’d recommend this to any parent looking to read something with their kid. Lots of twists and turns and mystery stuff to laugh/shake in your boots about. Got some welcome to nightvale vibes for sure.
This is a good creepy book for middle school readers. My students and I enjoyed it. It definitely gives off Stranger Things vibes. Highly recommend for kiddos who want a bit of a mystery, sci-fi thrill.
I don’t normally read horror. It wasn’t bad, but took three different threads and put them together: aliens, other dimensions, sci-fi technology. I did like a few quotes.

This was a great spooky book to read going into Fall. Though a middle grade book I was intrigued by it and enjoyed it. I will definitely keep reading this series!
