Bewitched by Moonlight by Deanna Chase is a prequel to A Last Witch Standing series. Phoebe Kilsen is a witch who lives in New Orleans, Louisiana where she works for the Void (government sanctioned supernatural authority) hunting rogue vampires (and sometimes other paranormals). Her latest assignment is to track down a rogue shifter. Phoebe is at Night Shift (a night club) and believes she has found her prey. Unfortunately, she is intensely attracted to him which helps her to place a tracker on him while they are dancing (sparks are flying). The shifter takes off suddenly and, before Phoebe can follow him, Pandora requests her presence. Pandora, a powerful vampire, needs her assistance because her mate, Eadric Allcot has been kidnapped. Phoebe has a feeling that the shifter is connected to the disappearance. Phoebe will need all the resources available to her to complete this mission.

Bewitched by Moonlight is a prequel that will wet your appetite and will have you begging for more. I thought the book was well-written and it had a steady pace. Readers of the Crescent City Fae series will remember Phoebe Kilsen. A Last Witch Standing series focuses on Phoebe who is a strong, intelligent woman. She is a witch who uses her abilities to track down vampires and shifters who are breaking the law. We are also introduced to Dax Marrok, a shifter to whom Phoebe is intensely attracted (I am shocked that they did not set the club on fire with the sparks coming off them). Bewitched by Moonlight has magic, shifters, vampires, fighting, and sizzle. I wish, though, that the author had provided more background on Phoebe (especially for those that have not indulged in Crescent City Fae series). I do want to warn readers that there is a great deal of foul language (such a shame) and explicit intimate scenes. I am off to devour Soulless at Sunset.

Bewitched By Moonlight is a prequel to the Last Witch Standing series by Deanna Chase. It’s a short story that’s supposed to give you insight into the main players and set the stage for what’s to come.

Phoebe likes her work; which is policing the supernatural activities in New Orleans. This go round she’s working with werewolves and vampires.

Dax is a mysterious shifter who intervenes in Phoebes case.

In my opinion it’s not necessary to read this before book one. The insight we get, to me, was not much. As for the romance or set up with Phoebe and Dax I didn’t care that it had our leads hopping into bed after a few hours of knowing each other.

Bewitched By Moonlight was ok. I read it after reading book one and it didn’t make me want to go out and read the series. I picked it up as a freebie and I don’t feel it’s worth paying for; especially since it’s so short.

I have been provided with a copy of Bewitched By Moonlight by the author for an impartial review. This is the prequel to the Last Witch Standing and you are introduced to Phoebe Kilsen who is on the hunt to find out why vampires are going missing. This book was such an easy read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I loved being introduced to this world and meeting these new characters. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The spinoff is a hit!
Bewitched by Moonlight by Deanna Chase is the prequel and the start of her spinoff from her Crescent City series. It’s good to come back to all of these wonderful characters. Granted I had to sit and think about who each one was after reading their name because of how long it’s been since I read the last book. All I have to say is that I miss those characters and I am glad that Mrs. Chase is going back to them. Phoebe Kilsen is better in this book than what I remembered and I loved the whole book. It is a little novella but still a great one.

What I liked about the book:
• The characters. It’s like welcoming back in an old friend that I haven’t seen in a while into my life and I like all of them.
• I still really like Link. He is an amazing guard dog even if he’s just a little dog that thinks he’s big and scary.
• I still love Phoebe’s sass and stubbornness that still feels genuine even though it’s been a while.

What I disliked about the book:
I knew the book was a novella when I started the book and it was such a great book that I wished it were a bit longer. That’s actually my only dislike about this book. I could start the actual first book right now if I wanted but I have other books to read first.

What I am curious about:
That if the rest of the books in this series will be as good as the first one. Along with if Phoebe can be able to stop whatever is going on in New Orleans between the vampires and the shifters.

Five Stars
Bewitched by Moonlight by Deanna Chase has created a perfect introduction to her spinoff series for Crescent City series. Mrs. Chase has done a great job with this one and I can’t wait to read the others when I don’t have so many books before it. I am glad to be jumping back into this world.

Anyways until the next time enjoy this review brought to you by

I love strong female characters and this book has one, big time. And the chemistry between the main characters sizzles. I am looking forward to reading more of the series. I am guessing the books will just get better, the more I get to know the people and places of the stories.
