I liked this, it was a cool way to show the 1st book with some fillers that weren't in and the art work is pretty amazing.

I had skimmed through the reviews of this and found them to be mixed, but I would like to say this isn't as terrible as some put off.

The start is sort of rocky, but it takes place between Zoey gaining her leadership of the Dark Daughters and before the first ritual she performs as the leader of the the group. Her friends read through the handbook each night of a story of each element (air, water, fire, earth, and spirit) of how each came to be and was used. She is also doing this to learn lessons Nyx wants her to understand to be a better leader for the Dark Daughters.

The artwork was pretty well done. I like the stories.

Overall, if you like the series sparked off from [b:Marked|30183|Marked (House of Night, #1)|P.C. Cast|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1368453848s/30183.jpg|30573] then you'll more than likely enjoy it if you push pass the first few pages.

Reading this reminded me of all the reasons I used to love HON. I just wished I still did.

I picked this up because 1) it's a graphic novel and 2) it said vampyre somewhere in the description.
I liked the back story of strong females being vampyres (think Cleopatra). The contemporary plot was o.k. but not anything ground breaking. You can read the graphic novel without reading the books but I felt like I might be missing things like character development. Still, it was fine. I won't be reading any House of Night though.

Serving as a "Book 1.5," this has been a amazing addition to the whole series that makes us understand what kind of lessons learned Zoey between the first two books in order to become a real High Priestess in training.
However, these are lessons we also should apply in daily life in order to be fair leaders and better humans, simple thigs we often forget used in a mythological setting, well-known tales we all remember but retold from the HoN world's perspective, which is amazing! The third issue, about Circe and th element of water, was my favorite, and it applies very well for what I'm currently dealing with.
Still, I hated that it didn't respect Dragon's and Lenobia's marks, the importance of Heath and her family in Zoey's life, that Grandma Redbird never appeared... Details and major topics such as those should have been properly included and/or used, but that's not the case. Doesn't make it bad, but could have been better.

i am so beyond sad to say this, but i hated it! i loved the graphics but i almost felt like they were poking fun and making the characters look awfully stupid. i hope that the only people that pick this up are already huge house of night fans because otherwise, i think they wont give the whole series a chance and that would be a shame!

Meine Wertung
4,6/5

This was a cute little add on to the house of night, but it came no where close to the greatness of the original series.
