This is my first Rachel Harrison book and I will definitely try another, but I just found the main character and her best friend too frequently grating (though not always).  As a (currently) 41 year old I can totally buy that they are both hot messes at 36 - that's not the issue I have.   It's the way they talk to each other, and the way Sloane talks/thinks about Naomi, through most of the book that feels way too immature.

Again, I'll try another of her books, but this one just averaged out to a meh for me.

This book was a very fast read, but I found myself more interested in the relationship between Sloan and Henry than Sloan and Naomi, which clearly wasn’t the author’s intention. While the book was entertaining, I feel that 40% of the book is missing. I don’t really see a lot of character development - other than acceptance - and I felt like their conflicts and resolutions were pretty much all the same. Even the resolution to the final obstacle was the same as that of any other one. Overall, it was entertaining but the first half of the book was more captivating than the second half.

i had a blast with this book! found the main characters engaging and their relationships were super interesting. thought sloane’s inner monologue was really well done, her shame and guilt were palpable. an exploration of what it truly means to be alive, and an ode to friendship. witty, sexy, blood pumping fun!
