A lot of the descriptions were soo long, they were completely unnecessary and some of the scenes didn’t add anything to the story so i just kept skimming a lot of those. I feel like they could’ve cut off a lot of unnecessary descriptions and it would’ve been actually a great read but its simply too long, too many words, it drags on so much i just couldn’t do it.

I really loved the premise of this and thought this was just going to be another cute romance novel, but I was surprised by how much I loved it and how much depth there was to it. The way G Benson wrote about loss and grief and finding love was so beautiful. I also appreciate it when a trope-heavy book can poke a little fun at itself and acknowledge the ridiculousness of certain situations. The "grudge" may have been a little silly, but they always acknowledged it as such as well. It just felt very real and human to me. Couldn't recommend it more.

This isn’t perfect. Some of the dialogue is a bit wooden and unnatural (mostly from side characters, not the two mains). Sometimes the discussions of politics felt unnatural. The consistent use of the q-slur (up to six times in a single sentence!) was frustrating.

However, I’m still giving it five stars because the good stuff overwhelms the bad stuff. It was long, but it felt necessary to flesh out both characters and give a real backstory to their relationship, making it feel real and not forced. I love that both main characters have fully rounded relationships with other characters and both are dealing with issues, which are given equal weight. I love the ADHD rep.
I love that one character gets hyper fixated on reading femslash fanfics of characters the other has played! I cried when she took her to her wife’s grave.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the audiobook narrator.

Despite the issues, I absolutely loved this book.

I feel like I’m in the minority with my rating with this one. It was a good book but the first half was so slow it was almost a DNF for me. It was just so wordy, like the descriptions for some things were so long I found myself skimming. I did enjoy the queer representation and how the author dealt with some of the more serious topics. I liked both of the main characters and their storylines but the story dragged too much and then once it picked up there was no conflict, just smooth sailing. I enjoyed the characters and I laughed a couple times while reading but I can see myself never thinking about this book again now that I’m done.
