The final chapter paints a beautiful landscape 20 years in the future, where the work Lee Schofield details in the previous 17 chapters has borne fruit, and the Fells are a lively patchwork of native trees, bright alpine meadow, and springy Altantic heath.
I have a newfound appreciation for wildflowers, and a new eye for the places where nature and the hill farm traditions have split from and rejoined each other.
