"They would never guess how noisy and smelly the life of a book had been before it was put in their hands. I loved that I knew this. That they didn't."

"If you shrink yourself to the smallness if your circumstances you'll soon disappear."

Beautiful and sorrowful. Moving discussions of war, class, gender and disability.

The Bookbinder brings WW1 & the Oxford press together through woman’s point of view. Some characters from Dictionary of Lost Words are woven into story.

Found it to be slow reading & not interesting.
