Oh man, I simply cannot tell you how much this book means to me. As an Indian, reading about all the rituals and traditions followed in my own family is such a nice feeling. Brilliant prose, great writing style. What a masterpiece.

It's the way in which I fully speed-read this for a class in less than a week and my brain is officially mush and I saw pretty much no point in this book even though the writing was good

I do read fiction! I liked this book and learned a lot about Indian culture. Lahiri does an amazing job of showing the difficulty of maintaining customs and culture.

I made it through 5 chapters (not quite halfway through the book) before I gave up on it. The story felt like it wasn't going anywhere, and I just couldn't feel any empathy for any of the characters.
