Another book scratched out of my top reading list..
I already read quite a few of the author`s books and this was my last one of his. And was it just as funny as his other books?

I thought it had some funny moments but wasn't as hilarious as [b: Charlie and the Glass Elevator|6687|Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator (Charlie Bucket, #2)|Roald Dahl|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1309211607l/6687._SX50_.jpg|2615068]. This one is more between 3.5 to 4 stars.

I actually listened to the audio read by David Walliams. He did an excellent job, especially with the invented words that the BFG uses and the different characters of the story. It was wonderful done. He actually made the story even more hilarious by his narration.

Overall, it's Roald Dahl's story, I mean he's an icon, right? He always has the most funniest, weirdest and wonderful magical stories.

Reading this is very different as an adult. This book was one of my favorites when I was in 3rd grade. (When dad read to me, we definitely had a genre. Hint: Captain Underpants was also in that genre.) And while I definitely appreciate the silliness and linguistic backwardness of this story, my not-as-fun adult brain has too many irrelevant questions about giant anatomy, dream magic, and Roald Dahl physics.

All things considered, this is still one of my favorite children's stories.

Roald Dahl always has fun twists and turns and made up words. I really liked this one. I don’t recommend this book as a read aloud, however, due to its length, and the amount of nonsense words. It’s quite a mouthful to read out loud! Fun story though - most of my students enjoyed it.
