As with most books from the folks at Basecamp, this book was brilliant! It was refreshing to read a different take on software project management than what I've experienced at work over the years. Definitely a great read.

I'm gonna have to try this out to really evaluate it. I really like the underlying themes in the approach of trust, simplicity, and focus. I am really curious how well it can be adopted outside of Basecamp.

Finally a business/process book that's no longer than it needs to be. All of it was useful, understandable, and without annoying fakeness or lofty ideals that don't stand up to reality. Loved it.

Interesting timing to read this book but I really liked being able to put words on some phenomenon I've seen in the past.

A perfect book for software teams to read and consider. Loved both the style and content throughout. Hope to work Singer’s advice and techniques into our process as we prepare for the next year.

Like all processes developed by companies, lots of good ideas you may want to implement, and some others you may wanna chuck through a window.
- Author declares "wireframes" as bad without defining what a wireframe is, then declares "fat marker sketches" to be good when—my brother—those are in lo-fi wireframes. But I digress...
- I like the idea of 6 week cycles over 2 week sprints which I have never seen work successfully in my life.
- I appreciate the wholistic look at shaping & shipping work vs the waterfall nightmare.
- I really really like how the book is structured for reading online. (https://basecamp.com/shapeup) Very very nice and clean formatting and easy to jump back in as they save my progress. Having the outline to jump to different sections is also very nice.

a definite must-read - if only to learn how to draw the line between an estimate and an appetite - and one that is not meant to be read only once. it is a reference book for radical solutions to almost all of our getting things-done-and-deployed-woes
