Emily Henry is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. I'm not usually a fan of "opposites attract" but I think this one was done well. I think There were some very good trope subversions and I was a fan of the characters. The back and forth between now and then was well done and did a great job of foreshadowing.
Spoilering for thoughts on spicy scene.
I always really appreciate a check scene before things get spicy where the characters make sure that what's about to happen is okay and also to make sure that they're both STD free and what the preferred birth control method will be. I was a big fan because normally its the woman who makes a comment of "I'm on birth control" but I was big a fan of Alex chiming in saying that he had a vasectomy! Then it actually becoming a mini plot point later (not a pregnancy scare trope)!!! 10/10

I loved this! I can‘t remember when (or if ever) I laughed so much at a book, the banter was just fantastic. Also Alex and Poppy have such a deep, fleshed out and special connection, it was a pleasure reading. They both have their own packages to carry in life but together it is easier and that‘s exactly what real love is like (to me at least).
The only reason why this isn‘t a 5⭐️ for me is because I feel like their not being together earlier makes no sense and especially their „fall out“ 2 summers ago was hyped up too much for the stupid reason to then be revealed so quickly, idk that just didn‘t work for me.
Otherwise, a spectacular romance read with much depth and realism. I‘m so sad to have now read all of Emily‘s books and need to wait for a new one 🥺

A cute, fun read. Alex and Poppy are super adorable.

“You are, you know.”
“A fighter?” I say.
“My home,” he says, and kisses me.
