My fave author

As one of my favorite authors, Coelhos work packs a staunch punch every time. These teachings align with all the laws you’re taught about the world and universe across so many spiritual frameworks.

A difficult book to rate. I really wanted to like it. I would like a how-to-live manual, especially one based on warrior imagery and virtues. Not that I want to be told how to be, but I want to find words that resonate deep within, so that my mind can understand what my heart is trying to say. This was not that book for me.

I plowed through the whole thing in a couple hours. Sometimes it seemed deep and profound, sometimes it seemed trite and shallow. Much of it seemed general enough that one could project whatever meaning they wanted onto it. As with any book that claims to advise you on how to live, I would recommend taking it's advice with large grains of salt. It may be a good book to take one page at a time and meditate on it, decide for yourself what it means, if it is true or not, how it might apply to your life. There may be better books more suited to this task.

For the task of being a quick and easy way of progressing on my reading challenge however, it succeeded quite well.

The content was not quite what I expected, but this is the second work I have ready by this author and I am finding it difficult to connect. This work is light on content and it came across as a bundle of thoughts thrown together. Further depth and context would have helped.

"Manual del Guerrero de la Luz" me atrajo por sus enseñanzas sobre cómo la vida es una constante que se enfrenta día a día, sin rendirse ante las dificultades. El libro también me llamó la atención por su enfoque en el crecimiento personal y espiritual, invitando a reflexionar sobre la importancia de seguir adelante y aprender de cada experiencia.

DID NOT FINISH: 22%

It repeats often and while I has a good message. It wasn't what I was looking for

For me, there are some really inspiring lines in this book. But there are just as many colliding with my values and worldview.

Quotes (I liked):
"A warrior does not spend his days trying to play the role that others have chosen for him." (23)

" The warrior of light knows that no one is stupid and that life teaches everyone - however long that may take.
He always does his best and expects the best of others. Through his generosity, he tries to show each person how much they are capable of achieving." (41)

"(...) makes decisions. His soul is as free as the clouds in the sky, but he is committed to his dream. On his freely chosen path, he often has to get up earlier than he would like, speak to people from whom he learns nothing, make certain sacrifices." (95)

"(...) is always trying to improve." (117)

"It is because he believes that he is what he says he is that the warrior ends up becoming precisely that." (119)

"The warrior knows about the 'waterfall effect'.
He has often seen someone mistreating another person who lacks the courage to respond. Then, out of cowardice and resentment, that person vents his anger on someone weaker than himself, who takes it out on someone else, in a veritable torrent of misery. No one knows the consequences of his own cruelty." (265)
