Tried reading the book, couldn’t get into it. Was better for me as an audible but it’s a 14 hour book! Lots of history in there on the life of Ms. Post. All the money in the world but also brought issues. I did read other sources on Ms. Post because I wanted to find out more, not everything that was written in this book was as rosy as it was made out to be. Obviously it’s a fiction and several things have been changed for story flow. There were a few times I was bored with some of the details and the story dragged. I’d give the book 3.5 but rounded up because I did learn a lot.

It wasn’t terrible and her life was pretty fascinating, I just felt underwhelmed by the lack of character development and some aspects of the story line seemed to almost be an afterthought. Felt more like a biography than historical fiction. I would give it a 3.75⭐️
Really interesting read! Marjorie Merryweather Post was once the wealthiest woman in America before the age of 30. Although she was the heir of Post cereal, she also had a real hand in building the General Foods empire. She was married four times to some other notable figures, and was close friends with many Presidential families. Really, a remarkable woman — and a fun, engaging story in its own right. I found the origins of Post vs. Kellogg to be especially interesting!

It was a bit long and couldn’t quite find the balance between biography and fiction, but Marjorie Merriwether Post was an impressive woman.
I really enjoyed this one. What a fascinating woman! Her father started Post cereal which changed how Americans ate breakfast. When her dad died she could not be on the board because she was a woman. That later changed. She had Post acquire many other food companies so they changed to General Foods. She was married four times, all ending in divorce, and while she built many mansions, including Mar-A-Lago, she did so many great things with her money. She built hospitals, and donated to schools and the arts and different charities. She opened food pantries during the Great Depression. She really was an amazing woman. Just not so lucky in love. This is my first Allison Pataki book but it will not be my last.
-I'd show them all that Majorie Merriweather Post did not follow trends-she set them.
-"My wealth would have been a burden on my soul if I did not find ways to share it with others."

After a break from historical fiction, this was a great way to get back into it. An interesting story about one of the wealthiest woman in the US and a smart business woman (sadly under the table for a while)I loved the descriptions of all Marjorie’s homes, the decisions and influence she had. Highly recommend, this was a fast read.
This was a quick and cozy read. The book follows the life of Marjorie Merriweather Post and I found it a lovely way to spend a quiet night at home. However, I think it would be a bit difficult to follow without background information on Post despite the book being very well-researched. Thanks to NetGalley!
