While I really appreciate that someone is out there writing historical fiction about interesting women, I couldn't help but feel like this book was just skimming the surface. I had a difficult time understanding why her marriages kept failing. Also, there was not much information about other important facets of her life, including her extensive philanthropy. She talked about her friend Edna Hutton, but never even mentioned that Edna had died very young and under suspicious circumstances -- she just disappears from the narrative.

Honestly, she could have written a book exclusively on her time as a diplomat's wife -- that was one of the most interesting sections. MMP did indeed have magnificent lives -- too many for one book, I think.

I was going to remark that the author should have provided more detail on the time between her marriages (as surely Marjorie Post did somethinggg noteworthy in between) but, as it turns out, there *wasn’t* much time because she always remarried very quickly. Overall, really enjoyed the book and all of the tidbits of American (and world) history we got to experience through the lens of Marjorie Post.
