3.5 stars. I enjoyed learning about the life of Marjorie Post, but this book needed more editing overall. The author spent less time on each successive marriage, and I felt like ultimately each marriage was written in a similar manner. I didn't really connect emotionally to any of the characters as they were written. I would be interested in reading more about Post and her life, but I think this book had more potential to wow me.

Another very interesting and very well written book by Allison Pataki! But Marjorie Post had such a disappointing (almost unfathomably BAD!) string of marriages! I so wanted her to have a happily ever after, but sadly, that was not to be. Guard your heart & then enjoy the book.

I was rooting for Marjorie to find love this whole book but alas men are the worst! This book wasn't as immersive as I think it could have been, but I loved reading the descriptions of the grandeur and NYC.

Absolutely loved this! Fascinating look at Marjorie Post's life, and eye opening to see the history of the Post cereal company (General Foods), and her contemporaries. Can't wait to visit Hillwood again!

Fascinating to read about the Post family. So much wealth, philanthropy and marriage heartache to unpack with this book.
Plot or Character Driven: Character

I liked how this book was written as an autobiography but was actually fiction.

In the first 3 marriages I do wonder if there were other reasons they broke up than the men not being able to handle their strong, smart and forceful wife. Eventually, anyway, since they liked that about her at first.

The pace and storytelling of this novel was so well done. It covered 70+ decades of her life but never dragged. If anything there were a few times I would have loved a little more about the business and charitable works she did.

Audiobook review: This is a massive piece of work. It was quite long but it needed to be. I learned so much that I had no ideas about. Marjory Post’s net of influence is quite wide. All I can say is it was a marvelous tale. If you are interested in history and women’s influence of it at all then enjoy this gem. My only negative was some of the Russian time got a little long and dry. But that a job well done. And the narration was simply excellent.
