“I was wondering… How could I be a woman of such good fortune and have the worst luck of all when it came to the men I loved.”

Yes, me too. I wondered how she could leap so quickly into relationships and then exit quickly too. Allison Pataki must have noticed that theme too, and structures the book around Marjorie Post’s marriages. I found this very interesting and enjoyable. I appreciated the history and found myself searching online as I read to confirm facts. Pataki writes in an honoring and honest way about Post’s successes and failures. I recommend this historical fiction novel and will read more by Pataki.

3.6. I always appreciate the research Pataki puts into her historical fiction. It was fascinating to read about the life of Marjorie Merriweather Post. For such an intelligent, driven woman, she certainly made awful choices when it came to men.

Never Knew About Her

I enjoyed hearing about a woman in history that I didn't know of before. She did a lot for our country. I loved the format of the book.

A fun book about a fascinating woman. Highly recommend reading this, especially if you can tour Hillwood Estate after. I will warn you that I ended up having to buy a box of grape nuts after a thorough brain washing in the first half of the book.
