This book became tedious the longer it went on. You can only read about failed marriages, fancy gowns, expensive baubles and new homes for so long then it's "enough already."
I read a lot of historical fiction and I had been looking forward to this book and was excited to read it. I made it about 45% through before giving up.
The characters were flat, it felt like nothing significant happened, it plods through her life, the dialog felt like it was inserted into a biography to make it into a fictional book.
It also felt tone deaf and pretentious in her observations and actions, but maybe any book about a wealthy heiress from this era would.
