This book detailed the life of Marjorie Post, of the Post Cereal Company family. In addition to learning about her fascinating personal life, I also learned about how her family changed the way Americans cook, eat, and store food in their homes. While I realize that her many marriages and divorces were the talk of the town, I wish they weren’t such a big focus in this book. I’m so curious to look more into the museum that her home has become, and other historical details.

It is safe to say that Marjorie is an incredibly inspiring woman who we should know more about, however, this book leaves its reader lacking. Majorie’s life may have been fascinating, innovative, and ever changing, yet, Pataki does not display this. Instead the reader is left wanting more.

This was an excellent historical fiction book about a powerful, rich woman who let her core values guide her decisions, placing her in an instrumental position throughout history. Marjorie Post lived a long time, so this book offers glimpses of history across the entire 1900s. The author also writes settings so well, making you feel like you are in New York, DC, Palm Beach, Soviet Russia throughout the book.
