More like 3.5. It feels like so much happened but also like nothing happened. I’m also convinced listening to the audio I would have no idea how to pronounce a lot of the words if I just read it.

**screeches in Crow**

I don’t even know what to say because my brain is still REELING.

I UNDERSTAND THE EEL JOKES NOW

You should read this series so you’ll understand about the eels too

"You are mine, mo khrá. The same way that I am yours. From now until the end of time."

I am totally and completely enthralled in this series. I've recently found that a number of romantasy series have been missing the mark for me, leading to a slew of three-star reads in a row (we all know what a drag that can be). This book, and its predecessor, revived me and I'm so glad I picked them up!

This installment clearly focused on character development, which is exactly what we needed after the intense world building in HoBW. Getting to learn more about Lore and his people was fun and something I thoroughly enjoyed. Fallon was a tad annoying, dragging out her inability to let
Spoiler Dante go and overall get over her feelings for him.
That tends to happen often with singular POV books, as we are experiencing their inner-monologuing in real time for a majority of the book. It didn't bother me and I liked watching the gradual change in Fallons behaviors.

The only (very small) thing that bothered me about the plot was
SpoilerLore actively going along with Dante saying that he was to be married to the Princess of Glace when he indeed, was not. I felt like that created a lot of tension between Fallon and Lorcan and its only real purpose was to push out their inevitable entanglement.

Like many other middle books, this one is more filler and less action. There wasn't a lot of movement in the book world, though there was tons of growth on other ends. HoPH is going to be a great building block in the overall series. I can't wait to see how everything unravels in House of Striking Oaths (#3).

SpoilerAlso, fuck Dante. I can't wait for Lore to eviscerate him lol.

Happy reading!

I'm not surprised that House of Pounding Hearts was even better than House of Beating Wings but it most definitely was. The banter, tension, and all around chemistry between our FMC and MMC was absolute perfection. I don't even have the words to describe how much I'm loving this series. House of Striking Oaths can't come fast enough!

Obsessed with everything about this

I wanted to love this book as much as the first in the series but I couldn’t get over how annoying the FMC is for 50% of the book. All of her character growth in the first book just went down the drain in this one.

Banter. Tudo.
