I have never felt so personally attached to a book. First of all, I had no idea what I was getting into with the book, but the first 10 pages intrigued me, so I read on.
I found I had to constantly remind myself that this was a novel and not a memoir, the characters were so real and relatable.
The structure reminded me of Tristram Shandy mostly because it doesn’t follow the story arc conventions we’ve become accustomed to in novels and I love that. There wasn’t a story arc as much as a story snapshot.

girl, I had to take a few breaks from this one. Heartbreaking and really thought provoking. It is magical realism in a way that I haven't seen it before. Magical realism involving a queer man mourning his lover dead of AIDS and his own deteriorating mental health.

It was one of those books that had such poignant magical lyricism and a lot of filler. Parts of the book practically broke me open and then some of it, I couldn't care less. I would have liked it to be more consistent but I am certainly glad that I read it.
