An interesting collection from Heady Mix. Introduced by curator Justina Cruickshank, who explains the term Afrofuturism and sets the scene for the collection of stories that follows. Opening with an essay on how blackness is represented in Black Panther that reads like a literary review without a conclusion. Then followed with 11 stories written by African writers. The majority have a science fiction or futuristic theme. I particularly enjoyed 'Waiting for the end', 'Women are from Venus' and 'Waking up in Kampala'. Coincidentally, the first and third of my favourites were by the same author Wesley Macheso. I think the collection could have been stronger with more stories, but overall a worthy read.
