I thought this was a great book. The 3 storylines come together in the end in a very satisfying way. Although we don’t ever really find out
what happened to Eric, Cameron’s dad,
I still think it ended nicely. I love the way the octopus was woven into the story, and how it ended as well.

The start was excellent but as the conclusion is nearing, the ending just fell short and rushed. Dissatisfied with how some of the characters and the chapters are written as well because sometimes it felt unnecessary or the author forgot to develop that point in the story (example below, spoiler tagged). The octopus was a star at first but somewhere in the middle the author just slips him in whenever and wherever the author thinks fit.

Example: Ethan finding the old cheque by Daphne Cassmore and all of the rushing that evening to do what exactly?

What a beautiful book. It really touched me. It took me a little bit to get into, but I loved the characters, especially Marcellus. It had me tearing up at the end - what a special story.

This book was so good. I enjoyed Marcellus. The way grief was talked about was tender and real.
