“Every time I imagined adulthood, it looked different from this reality.”

I loved all the references to NPR (I'm a junkie) and I loved the ending. I found the constant worry (about technically lying to their audience) to be somewhat oppressive.

Edit: I have only read this book once. Trying to get this to show in my Goodreads challenge.

When I first got this book I couldn't figure out why it was taking me so long to pick up The Ex Talk. When I finally did pick it up though I realized that this was one of those books that had to be read at the right moment.

I devoured this book from the moment I started it one weekend. I absolutely adored this book. I have no complaints about this book at all and Rachel Lynn Solomon has become one of my favorite authors. I will read anything by her now, especially since her last book too. I was super excited that this was her first romance book. And I was even more excited to see that it was an enemies to lovers trope and that it featured around journalism which was my field of study in college. Except I majored in newspaper, not radio. I still loved that aspect though.

The Ex Talk was my first five star rating of the year and I was very pleased that it was. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for allowing me the chance to read and review this book. And thank you to the author, Rachel Lynn Solomon for gifting me the eARC copy of this through the giveaway on Twitter. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

this book did a great job of making clever twists on classic tropes - it felt like it wasn’t forcing itself to be a twist on formula but rather a slightly more logical relationship

I wasn’t as invested as I was hoping to be but I could definitely enjoy a reread

Okay, this was cute. I kinda liked this! It’s not the best romance book, but I really liked the idea of the ‘ex talk’ podcast. There are many ways in which this could’ve been much better. Attention to details and working out specific storylines of the characters where missing and I feel like the author did the book wrong with that. I mean it was a nice book, but it had so much promise!!

What surprised me was that I wasn’t as awkward with the ‘woman being older than the man’ age difference. It was only mentioned in the beginning and once in the end, so it didn’t really bother me.

And about Shay… idk how to feel. Sometimes I pitied her and sometimes I couldn’t stand her self pity. It was a real problem here. She needs therapy. But who doesn’t?

Anyways, it was fun! Idk what else to say about it sorryyyyy

What a fun book! This was such a sweet, cute read, that simply made me smile and fall in love with the characters. I love the whole concept of this story, the pacing and how it concluded. What else can I say, I just had a good old time reading this one!
