The Sweet Magnolia series is just the same exact book whose main character’s names have been changed. It’s the same story over and over again and this one will be my last. There are so many better series out there. I will no longer waste my time reading this one.

Where do I even begin. Let’s start here, I hate this whole theme where the woman doesn’t want to fall in love, fights off man, denies feelings, all the while man continues to stick tongue down said woman’s throat over and over again until she finally gives in. I mean really? Has the author ever heard of consent? Who are these men that keep pushing themselves on women. And even worse who are these woman that allow a man to behave this way. I find it disgusting. I know these men are supposed to be swoon worthy but that’s not how I see it. Instead all I see are dysfunctional, inappropriate relationships filled with toxic behaviors and way too much cheating.

In all the other books I at least liked the Sweet Magnolias but I did not like Jeanette. She was terrible, unlikable and I can’t imagine trying to be her friend. Talk about walking around on egg shells. No thank you.

Like I said. D.O.N.E. with this series.

Okay I have to say I was disappointed in this book. The first 3 I enjoyed, because I had watched the Netflix series first. So I enjoyed getting the author’s true take on the Sweet Magnolias but by this book, it seems to just be the same basic story line. Boy meets girl. Boy wants girl. Girl has been hurt, so maintains a stubborn front. Boy fights and fights for her until girl finally breaks and they get together forever. Maybe this won’t be true for the rest of the books as I have bought almost the whole series. But I will be taking a break from Sherryl to start another series.

This was not my favorite. Contrived and too quick of an ending. Not even a romantic proposal.

I am still sticking it out with this series per several recommendations from folks I trust. I find myself curious about the characters and enjoying the small town feel of it all. I pinpointed an undertone that bothered me in this one though.

*New character sees a main character and decides he wants her. She says no and he decides she has "created a fascinating challenge." A woman turning you down is not a fascinating challenge. Little things like this irk me and even when he ends up being the man of her dreams, I still hear that phrase from 350 pages earlier...

*There was also a comment in this title about whether new character is gay. Then it was said, "... but he was all male." As if to imply a gay man can't be male?

I know, I'm nitpicking, but we can't always control what gets to us (good and bad).

Holiday themed, and while a happy, perfect town, I didn't get the resistance to the relationship and then she just suddenly changes her mind when he condescends to her about what he thinks she wants and should do?! I enjoyed the. Plot relationship though.

I really only care about Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue. The novels after the first three, they are like supporting characters barely featured ugh the show is way better.
