A very british kind of humor (for all that the author is american). Reminds me of Pratchett.

A reviewer called this 'Pratchett adjacent;' it does remind me somewhat of Pratchett's Jingo but Ursula Vernon has an unusual style of her own. Nine Goblins got a few chuckles from me, it did get a little dark in the later half but the adventures of a reluctant goblin army with a weary elf veterinarian provided delightful diversion on a cold winter evening. My fav bestiary creatures: the bone stag and skeletal doe. If this is 'low' fantasy, I'll take it.
