Amusing, with some clever world building that manages to feel complete.  Please note the content warnings, as the book ricochets a little jarringly from sly humor, to the demoralization of war, to potty humor, to graphic descriptions of corpses, and round about again, to so be prepared for that.  Sings-to-Trees is pretty great, I kinda want a whole book on the elven veterinarian.

Content warnings do not include warnings about graphic descriptions of dead people and animals.   There is also much talk of war injuries and death. Also there's a bit of goblin racism that feels a little too close to making a real-world racism generalization, and a character that could be agender or trans being labeled female because they are small and shy.
