Notes: The 2nd in the "The Improbable Meet-Cute" novella series (6 stand-alone novellas released around Valentine's Day 2024), and I just adored it. Both MCs were so cute and felt so real, and I just loved this story. I wanted so much more of it!!

“Take responsibility for your own unhappiness, Holly. If you don’t love your life, change it.”

I went in reading this short story thinking it would be the normal happy go lucky short stories it usually is - I was dead wrong. It literally reminded me of those few days before my own grandmother died and that made me miss her so much.

Abby Jimenez can make me feel so many emotions even thru short stories. I love how there’s that romance aspect in this book that made me forget I was sad as well. It was a roller coaster of emotion in such a short span of time.

It was a very cute book, and I loved the meet cute and double identity thing that happened. I really enjoyed reading it, and it made me more likely to read some of Abby Jimenez’s other books.

I really loved this book a lot. It had me kicking my feet laughing  at times, while at others I felt teary eyed. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick but emotional read with romantic undertones.

don' go into this like I did thinking that this will be a sweet and cutesy valentines short story because that is not what this book is. The talk about her grandma thru out the story is actually a lot sadder than I would have expected from a book marketed as a short valentines day book. With that being said the story was well done and the the overall story was sweet just know it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

I have to say thank you to Abby Jimenez for representing those who are the caregivers for grandmas on hospice! I was sadly apart of that club for multiple years, so to say that I could relate to this story is an understatement. Though, I really wish my grandma had had a crazy (yet amazing) deathbed confession to share.

I also thought this was a cute twist on the normal pen pal trope! I kind of loved how they each thought the other was an old person, and how they both loved taking care of the elderly and needy!

This was the cutest short story, which also managed to make me cry in such a short time with these characters! Ugh, it was hopeful yet heartbreaking, just the perfect amount of hilarious considering some of the melancholy topics discussed, and sugary sweet. An adorable Valentine’s Day story that felt like the biggest hug. I loved the writing and will definitely be reading everything Abby Jimenez writes forever.

For what was advertised as a romantic comedy, this was really depressing. I especially didn’t care for the part about the abandoned puppy. Are you trying to make me sad and angry? Also didn’t care for the writing style. Short, blocky sentences and not enough contractions made it feel stiff.
