This is the second book I've read by Blake Crouch and I can't wait to read more. The story grabs you from the beginning and it's hard to put down.

This one definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to keep reading, especially in the first half. The mystery reveal was very well thought out and expressed, and I really liked the dual story line between 1893 and present day.
A very interesting story told from compelling points of view. Part of the story takes place in the old west while another takes place in what is present day. And talk about a cutthroat group of people in both times... wow!
DNF
I was hoping for supernatural and spooky. And all I got a repetitive super violent story. Disappointing I usually love Blake Crouch, DNFed at 36%.

Definitely not as good as the Wayward Pines series. It ended up with a pretty interesting twist, but it dragged on a bit for my tastes.
Note: I quit at 60%.
After reading Crouch’s Dark Matter, I wanted to try another of his works. Abandon starts with a literal bang and early on there are plenty of surprises.
But then the book slows down, much like seemingly every character caught in the blizzard. And the antagonists were comically badly written.
I think the author has writing talent and that kept me engaged for longer. But I wish he’d have eliminated some of the tangents to keep the story interesting.
