I am typically not a fan of first-person narration but am a sucker for a good dystopian novel so put aside my misgivings. At times the MC is absolutely a 16-year-old girl - insufferably so - but the setup for this particular dystopia was certainly interesting enough to power through it and has me intrigued enough to pick up the second novel in the series as soon as I can. (One note on why I rated this book so low - I can't figure out if this is supposed to be a diary or a straight narration, as the MC will occasionally switch the way she narrates as though she is writing in a diary.)
