Slow start and some weird tone/word choice throughout but daaaaaang that was tense and very good at the end.

I found this a little boring if I'm honest. Dystopias make me a little nervous anyway, they're usually doom and gloom with a little bit of light, a little bit of hope but this was just a bit meh. I wasn't invested in them, I had questions with what was going on at points.
Not for me.

I love this book! I identified as Gwen and felt every emotion. Plenty of action all throughout the book, plenty of tension and a transformation that is actually realistic. And Aeson, there’s something there …. I’m so excited to see how the story plays out.

I loved this so much. It kept me engaged and desperate to read the next page. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

I only read this because I got it as a free eBook. It turned out to be a lot more interesting than I thought it would. It had plenty of twists and layers to it, and the premise was interesting and well-executed. However, I found the POV character's way of describing others, especially guys, to be overly focused on their sexiness or lack thereof. Wayyy too many people were "sleek" or "toned" or some other form of extremely attractive, and the romance was too physical for my liking. That's a personal preference of mine and the reason I don't read a lot of dystopia or YA. In sum, well-done, but I won't be reading the rest of the series.
