Seeing the blueprint of all of Talia’s heroines and heroes warms my heart so fucking much. To know this author evolved but still had the essence of all her characters remain the same all these years was the best part of this book.
Just reading their story and then remembering chloe and red and her more recent books, and still having the same amount of care and love throughout her storytelling is amazing.

So, yeah... Not really a fan of this one.
For one, I don't think the relationship between the two of the leads came across well? I don't know. It wasn't bad, but I didn't really believe that they liked each other. I just think the book's length was to its detriment. I could've used just a bit more.

REVERSE GRUMPY/SUNSHINE ALERT!!!
Such a fun and cute read!!
Ruth is absolutely amazing and I LOVED her and Evan is the sweetest dude I swear! And in true Talia Hibbert style the spice was incredible.

Ok so 4.25 might be a little strong, but I also liked this more than a 4.0! I love a prickly FMC and Ruth definitely gave that. I feel like Evan could’ve been a bit more developed but it was a short book, so I’ll forgive that. I think the relationship that was built was very sweet, Ruth’s personal growth was lovely, and overall though this book was short it did a lot! Talia hibbert has yet to disappoint me.
The Good
I'm continuing through Talia Hibberts backlog and am still loving it! Ruth!!!! I absolutely loved this character. She had a lot of trauma to work though and it was hard for her to trust and be vulnerable. I loved Evan too. He is such a kind person with acts of service as his love language. He was trying his best to understand Ruth but it was obviously difficult. The last 80 pages of this book was pure gold I absolutely loved it so much. The romance and spice was top tier.
The Bad
While I understood Ruth, it was getting pretty frustrating reading her go one step forward and two steps back over and over. Even at moments I thought she was making some progress she would immediately revert back to closing off and getting angry.

I give this book a 4/5
