This was a good romance in general, but it’s difficult to explain what having an autistic woman character, written by a woman on the spectrum, means to me. Representation is everything, and showing a character with complexity and a personality not driven by stereotypes was excellent.

Love reading Talia’s dynamic characters. Full of snark and smarts and dynamic brains.

after grapiedeltaco’s amazing review, i really thought id love this. unfortunately, for me everything about it felt too rushed and like it had more potential to be greater than it was. though all the problems of the book were fully fleshed out (in a way) the whole time i felt like i was just waiting for more. and though i really loved ruth and evans characters as a whole, i felt like we were only seeing them at surface level rather than the deep characters that they couldve been.

Hibbert's exceptional work at characterization gives us the difficult personality of Ruth Kabbah. Hibbert creates the dramatic tension in the story not with contrived implausible events, but with human foibles and deft, smart writing. I can't say I loved the story because it was uncomfortable for much of the time, but uncomfortable in a page-turner, got to get to the next cliff-hanger kind of way.

In the end, though, you can see how much she loves the humanity she brings to the page and we end up loving them as well. Hibbert is a smart writer who can take on any trope and turn the cliche on its ear, making it a worth-while read. Amazing stuff.

Compelling character driven contemporary romance. Sexy as chocolate covered strawberries and as comforting as a cup of tea. Evan is just the kind of deliciously sweet and incredibly sexy hero the world needs right now. Ruth is "prickly" but utterly relatable and interesting. Highly recommend!

Hibbert has a way with creating really dynamic, one of a kind characters. Ruth was a delight and Evan was everything you need in a leading man. Their chemistry was fantastic, their story engaging and well paced, the romance was of the steamy variety, and Hibbert remains the queen.

Quick read. Loved the MC's but Evan was a little too perfect which pulled me out of the story occasionally. Loved the diversity and the fact that Ruth was neurotypical.
