I definitely enjoyed the continuation of the world created in The Belgariad, however it seemed to take forever for the story to really pick up. I get it, though, this is setting up everything for the rest of the series, so it is necessary. I'm looking forward to re-reading the rest of the books!

Years after his first adventure Garion finds out that the prophecy isn't actually finished he's only halfway through but he had to grow up and have a son before it could continue. The first half of the book covers many years so the characters can age and mature although to be honest because it's only approx 5 years they don't feel that much more mature.
All your fave characters come back into the story but it takes till the end of this first book for the quest to start, this story is mostly people picking fights(wars).

David Eddings really does know how to write a good fantasy book. We get the magic and the battles, the travels and the prophecy, but unlike so many other more pedestrian fantasy writers, there is also a lightness about the text. The text just flows and is fun. I'm so happy to have found him.
