I've been reading more cozy mysteries lately, thinking about adding that as a genre to edit, and this series caught my eye as I'm a camping enthusiast and miss camping, hoping to get back to it soon. I liked the story, and having recently read books about writing mysteries, was recognizing a bunch of tropes, including Mae, the helper who might be the killer, and cop who doesn't want her investigating the crime.

The one part that stuck out as a little out of alignment from the formula was how long it took to get to the mystery itself. Where's the body? It shows up, but took quite a few scenes before we got to it. New series, they needed to set up the whole premise and world, but I was wondering when that mystery was going to start for a while.

A fun read.
