I loved this book! Since this was my first Ashley Poston book and it has magical realism elements (which I'm not always a fan of), I didn't know what to expect. I heard a lot of great things about it, despite it's not-so-stellar rating on GR, and was not disappointed. The characters were quirky and loveable, and while the plot of FMC falling in love with a ghost was technically unbelievable, it's easy to see where the story is going and to root for them.

In addition to the sweet romance, the familial subplot was touching. Family dynamics and relationships being tested during the death of a loved one can be messy and complicated, and there was some of that to an extent, but overall the theme was one of love and acceptance and forgiveness. I also appreciated how the family has a sense of humor even during a difficult time, showing that not every situation like theirs has to be somber and sad. I thought the author did a great job of not overusing humor to deal with death, but used just enough to show that this family uses humor in a positive way.

I loved the ending and the bonus of the author's note, plus the narration was done really well. I'd highly recommend to anyone who loves romances. And even though I've only read one of her books, this one has made me a fan and I can't wait to read her other adult romances.

This book was a nice, light read. I particularly enjoyed the queer representation in some of the side characters, and the dynamic way all the characters in the book were written.
