a simple but effectively built world lends itself to a thrilling adventure. this book had so many tense scenes, as well as fitting emotional beats. i thought some parts of the plot were too convenient or contrived, even if they were effective in moving the story along. i also wasn't very taken by the sapphic romance, nor how it turned out in the end. still, i'm excited for the sequel and the dani is a lovely character trying to balance the intriguing political stage.

It was amazing!!! Excellent commentary on what it means to try to come to a new place with better opportunities (and illegal immigration). So diverse and beautiful.

The Spanish was refreshing. The sapphic ship and the pacing of their developing relationship was absolutely breathtaking.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tension, both from the fear and from the budding love story.

The first kiss between the main ship is  so good. Because it isn’t rushed. So the yearning just builds.

The world building was simple and yet so original.
Definitely recommend!!

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I liked the premise. The story seemed to be moving a little slow even though the pace was quick, and I wasn’t sure if anything new would be offered in the last few chapters. I was wrong. The ending of the book was my favorite part because it pissed me off. I felt emotions that I couldn’t feel in the beginning and middle. This was proof that I had grown attached to these characters- to their story. I’ll be reading the sequel soon.

I really enjoyed this book! The romance between the two female main characters was amazing, it had a little bit of yearning and an innocence of a new friendship.

The book was medium paced and it talks about how the rich abuse the poor to stay in power in very simple direct terms that get the job done.

Would highly recommend
