i truly don’t think i’ve ever read so much in 240 pages - and i mean that as the highest compliment. one of the most beautiful books i have ever read.

I would have given 5 stars for the writing alone, but unfortunately I just wanted a little more plot development.

This read like poetry about food and living in a world that is falling apart. Beautiful.

“What sustains in the end are doomed romances, and nicotine, and crappy peanut butter, damn the additives and cholesterol because life is finite and not all nourishment can be measured.”

“I might have misunderstood had I not grown up versed in that vocabulary: my mother buying full-price Pop-Tarts for my first day of school, my mother leaving a bowl of cut fruit out after a fight. The lamplight off those faucets. The radiance.”
