All My Rage is a powerful book that covers heavy topics real teens face. Never assume you know what's happening behind closed doors, if anything seems remotely off. I listened to the audiobook with 3 narrators, and the emotions poured into the characters & their traumatic scenes felt raw. When I first heard about this book, I had no interest in reading it and the tough issues it dives into, especially in congruence with any from my own childhood. Then, the author shared on TikTok how some schools don't want the book accessible to their teens, which made me wonder why. Yes, every major character deals with more than anyone wants to face in life, but novels are great avenues to explore tough topics and what leads people down rocky paths. The Outsiders was a core book in my middle school time that highlighting those who have it rough, and All My Rage could do that today, if more people read it.

“Rage can fuel you. But grief gnaws at you slow, a termite nibbling at your soul until you're a whisper of what you used to be.”

I read this as a buddy read and WOW. This book was so heavy, so please proceed with caution and check trigger warnings before reading. The author has the trigger warnings at the beginning as well.

This story is told from the perspective of Salahudin, Noor, and Misbah. Misbah is Salahudin’s mother and these are mainly all from the past! The book does go back and forth in time due to this, but it works really well here!

Salahudin and Noor have gone through so much at such a young age and my heart was hurting for them. This was my first Sabaa Tahir book (I have some of her other books on my shelf!) and the writing was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend picking this one up!

This book coming from Sabaa Tahir, who wrote one of the fluffiest YA series I have read, is gut wrenching, human, and everything a novel about immigrant families in a rural white town should be. It felt a bit contrived at times in terms of everything happening at once, but the underlying theme of religion and things as they should be made it alright for me. The book spells out in plain English the reverberating complications of poverty and racism in a high school setting. Would definitely recommend this book.
