Saaba Tahir has the Midas touch.

This is the best book I’ve ever read

I’d give this an infinity rating if I could.

I need this book in my bloodstream

All My Rage book review: a must-read

I love it when my friends say, “I’m downsizing. Do you want some books?” because the answer is always “yes.” Even though I’ve been “downsizing” for years now, and I’m just too lazy to post pictures of all the books I have in boxes 😅 Soon, friends, soon… This situation happened with Belle (last year, might I add 🤦🏻‍♀️, I’m the worst with my TBR), and out of the few books I picked, ALL MY RAGE by Sabaa Tahir was my number one choice. Since this book debuted, I’ve heard such good things about it, and let me confirm them: every exceptional thing you have heard about this book is true.

I want to thank ashleyreads for making me read a backlist book off my tbr. I love that she posts books she wants to read each month and says, “Who wants to buddy read?” It helps me get into books on my shelves!

Ashley and I expected this to be an emotional book, but we did not expect to be gripped right from the beginning. Yes, I’m a crier at books, but I was so emotional through this novel that it seemed normal to have tears on my face as I read. We had such a good talk about this book. I highly recommend it as a book club read if you are looking for a book to have a great discussion about when you finish reading!

My only regret is that I read it with my eyes while Ashley went the audiobook route and said it was a fantastic listen. I cried so much and went through such an emotional roller coaster getting attached to these characters that I don’t know if I can handle rereading this soon. But one day, I’ll be ready for this story again, and I know when I am, it will be with my ears!

It’s a book of heavy, relevant subjects. You quickly care for the characters and how unimaginable life is for them (and real-life people like them). It makes you emotional. It makes you think. And it’s damn sure worth the read.

I absolutely loved this! I loved the writing style and felt connected to the story and the characters. I really related a lot to Sal’s relationship with his dad and the complicated feelings that come with having an alcoholic parent. I thought the heavy topics and themes that were handled throughout were done really well and in a realistic way. Overall I really enjoyed this and would love to read her An Ember in the Ashes series!

At first, I’m not going to lie, I did not like where the story was going, but I think it’s important that these types of stories are told. The hard-to-swallow stories are the ones that need to be heard because they are often what the reality is. Sabaa makes a point of showing that people have flaws and may have redemption or may not, but a lot comes down to circumstance, how much happens TO you vs what happens because of your own actions, and how you own up to both of it. There’s a lot of complexity to the book so giving it a chance through the first chapters is important and everything ties to the last third. It left me crying on the plane on my way to Madinah because of how everything came full circle and the message of redemption and closure for grief. The people make genuine real mistakes and it doesn’t just magicallu go away - it’s real life adult mistakes with real life consequences.
