4.5
I think this is a 4.5 read - I rounded it down but it’s truly 4.5. I loved this so much. It should be required reading for high schoolers - though it deals with very intense subject matter. I rated it down because some of the plot felt very unrealistic to me, but I still enjoyed thoroughly.
Graphic: Sexual assault, Racism, Police brutality, Domestic abuse, Sexual harassment, Suicidal thoughts, and Racial slurs

“Maybe that’s why people die of old age. Maybe we could live forever if we didn’t love so completely. But we do. And by the time old age comes, we’re filled with holes, so many that it’s too hard to breathe. So many that our insides aren’t even ours anymore. We’re just one big empty space, waiting to be filled by the darkness. Waiting to be free.”
This book was beautifully written. The characters were complex, the story was sad but hopeful. It was a really heavy read, but definitely worth it. I for sure think everyone should read this (but of course keep in mind the content warnings). I loved the ending and the way everything ties together. Anyways please read this poetically beautiful book!

This is my favorite of all the books I’ve read recently. I love when books make me emotional and this one definitely did.
