Good review below me! HLv2 isn't as strong as the debut but it's certainly a fine comic. It's a quick read in all the right ways. I don't know whether the literal guides to reading the panels and action would work in most stories, but HL keeps it a light enough tone that they're helpful without being too intrusive.

The plot didn't quite grab as well as the first iteration, but after introductions are done with, it's not a problem to have the interesting hero continue on his journey and run into new challenges. There wasn't as much humor in this as the first, but there were still very good genuine bits of funny.
And great action, as MacLean is known to deliver.

Head Lopper is, to me, the perfect mix of art, adventure, & sass. This story continues where we left off at the end of book one with our heroes journeying to the Crimson Tower. We make new tiny friends, lose some friends, & fight horrible created monsters. I love Agatha the most & would happily haul around her horrifying head for a few weeks just for the sass of it all. Head Lopper is recommended for each and every one of you, but extra especially those fans of Adventure Time, D&D, & fantasy adventure novels.

Continues the incredible cartooning from Andrew MacLean. In this volume he begins to develop more of his own unique style, but his Mignola influence still shines through and I’m starting to see a bit of Moebius in his work.
In terms of story, this feels like a very Conan/Zelda inspired dungeon crawl. Head Lopper and friends climb a tower with increasing danger and difficulty with every new room. I love that each room has its own environment and boss fight, this is the closest I think a comic has come to feeling like a video game. It captures that Zelda dungeon feel perfectly.
