A seasonal collection of Autumnal (none of this Fall nonsense! 😆) short stories, featuring Miss Marple, Poirot, Tommy & Tuppence, Parker Pyne, Mr Satterthwaite and more. As ever, some stories don't seem particularly seasonal, for the UK at least (two are set in hot and sunny weather, one in Africa and one in Rhodes) and some I have read before in other compilations. It is good to complete the seasonal collection though, already having the Spring, Summer and Winter versions.
My favourite stories are both Poirot mysteries: Murder In The Mews, where a woman is found mysteriously shot to death in a locked room and The Lemesurier Inheritance, where Poirot debunks a "good old-fashioned family curse". Death By Drowning, a Miss Marple mystery is also good, but I had read this one before and recalled whodunit.
These seasonal compilations are beautiful, dust-cover-free hardbacks that make great gifts for crime and mystery fiction lovers. Perhaps not for a die-hard Christie fan though, who is likely to have read at least some of them.
