Iris is a young mafia princess, her father’s last words to her before he died were to go to Silas Black.
She finds protection and quite a bit more in the Black household.
Silas is the father, Baron his son and Gabriel is his adopted son.
They are assassins and Silas owed her father a favor. She asks to be kept safe while they train her to be an assassin so she can avenge her father’s death.
Iris is an issue for me, she never acts very surprised by anything she see’s even when it should be shocking. She’s very demanding and comfortable around these three assassins immediately.
It was just too far fetched for me.
I know it’s fiction, it just felt too rushed and too unbelievable for me to settle in and properly enjoy the story.
The reverse harem aspect was ok, again though, Iris just acts so unfazed and blasé about it all. I struggled to like her.
The men are ok, they are sexy and kind of interesting.
The story doesn’t go deep, I don’t feel like I understand the characters much.
I found myself feeling uninvolved and not terribly interested.
I’m sure plenty of taboo, mafia and RH lovers will enjoy this book.
It is very hot. It’s a bit dark and forbidden.

For a dark romance, a genre I don't normally step into, this was at least digestible for me. I like the dynamic between Baron, Gabriel, Silas, and Iris. Although I think plot tension could use work, and the Vincent plot line got weaker as it went and ended rather suddenly, it was a solid book. I don't know what the sequel entails but I'm reading it now.
