the mystery of the book was engaging, if predicatable the further you went through the book. I really enjoyed the diversity of the book, although it felt a bit forced when the nature of the characters was centered on commentary on their sexuality and gender in a patriarchal society - although this might just be a me thing bc this book is set in a fictionalised Ancient Greek polos and I study classics so it was a little removing for me to see modern views in an ancient context. I liked the dynamics between the characters, the ending was fast paced which I enjoyed, but overall the writing was a bit removing and modernist for my taste :(

Super fun and dark fantasy that never slows down and is full of twists! A romance I never expected but appreciate so much. We need more fantasy like this. Lgbt, morally grey, & found family? I can't ask for anything else. 

4.5/5 for some cheesy dialogue, but it's easily overlooked, especially towards the end.

I enjoyed this read but honestly I would call this more of a NA book than YA book just given the demographic of the characters and also how graphic the scenes can get.
