An old reread. I didn't remember it seaming so scandalous when I read it 15 years ago. Still fairly light and enjoyable. It's the type of romance people read in books, full of sword fights and honour and arranged marriages.

The interactions between the main couple were the best parts, however, there really weren’t many of them.

The POV switched often and was not always clear. Everyone has several different names, depending on who’s POV it is which was also a bit difficult to keep straight.

That said, Richard Armitage as the narrator was a delight. Will definitely be looking for his narration of other books.

This was my first Georgette Heyer but I don't think it will be my last. The characters were delightful and their intrigues and troubles masterfully entertaining. It serves well as a quick  lighthearted read as long as you make some allowances for differing social mores between the current time the early twentieth & nineteenth century.
