The pacing of this book was really strange, as there were parts I didn’t think needed to be drawn out so much and others that I wish could’ve been drawn out more. I liked the new characters and what the book had to show about platonic intimacy. I also liked how we got to see the teens empowered to advocate for themselves and each other.
What I didn’t like was how the relationship between Dante & Ari progressed, and I think part of it was due to the fact that Ari seemed to be a totally different person from the first book. If we had seen more of his growth, it would’ve been more believable. Also, I don’t know if I liked Miranda as the narrator of the audiobook.

This is the most beautiful book I’ve ever read. Ari is so raw and I feel like we share a soul. Ari tells me it is okay to love, to cry, to feel it all. This book is all that it is to be human. This book will live in my heart forever. I am grateful to have read it.

Benjamin writes poetry. I’m convinced he puts a lot of his soul in this pages, I’m always going to be grateful for the opportunity to read his words, his vision of the world.

This was a sad book. A book about love. And I could not stop crying while reading

One time my best friend hold my hand after picking me from work, he told me how wonderful it was to do that without others staring at you with hateful eyes.
He was the one that gifted me this book.  I Could not stop thinking about that while reading, oh how I wish I could gift him a better world in exchange.

This book will always be in my heart as much as the first one. So many word are in my heart right now

almost DNF'd, really glad i didn't

this sequel was kinda unnecessary in my opinion but it was beautiful. ari has one of the most beautiful character arcs i've ever read. the first one is still miles better but i still thoroughly enjoyed this!

A really great continuation of Aristotle and Dante's story. Now they aren't falling in love, but are learning how to navigate being in a relationship while also growing as people and coming out to those they are closest to.
I loved going through this journey with Ari. He's so smart and has such a big heart that he had to learn how to let people into throughout this book. And then the grief was so poignant and beautiful. It was handled so well throughout the second half of the novel. I felt myself tearing up after almost every scene as Ari weathered his grief with his happiness.
I also loved the addition of the aids epidemic and how big of a part of queer history that is. I think the author did well in showing the solidarity of the queer community during the epidemic and balancing how it was starting to affect Ari's life or the life of those around him.
The writing style of the author, though lyrical and beautiful, does take a big to get used to. It's kind of a stream of consciousness style that you don't see very often in contemporary novels. But once I did get used to it, I loved it and how it fit Ari's character with how he's always in his head, silently watching and listening.
