Such a great idea and fun! but the writing often clichéd and stilted, the characters undeveloped, the dialogue and description so predictable that the seemingly surprising turns of events are basically forecast. Not a good book but I’m glad I read it.
This was a really great book. It was complex but easy enough to follow. A lot of characters in it but easy to keep track of. The dark academia vibes do remind me of The Secret History, but I actually really liked this book, unlike that one :) It has a cool little fantastical twist too which gives the book some good depth. You should read this.

This was such a wonderfully crafted book! The story really sucked me in and I loved the characters. An overall very enjoyable read!

3 stars because I love NYPL and the field of cartography and feel like this got it so right. Didn’t love the nonexistent/vague physical details of the characters though.
