This book made me want to create a new shelf on Goodreads & call it: Just Brilliant. The one shelf to rule them all, and this book would be on it. It's my first Ashley Munoz book and I'm actually mad that I let this sit on my TBR for so long.
Firstly - the story is captivating. It has a bit of everything; dangerous MC club adventure, hot MC riders, a love story for the ages (MCs have known each other since they were 9), second chance, spice - just like a perfectly made dish with the right balance of all ingredients. I basically inhaled this book in 12hrs & paid attention to nothing else (what family? don't worry - no humans or children were harmed in the reading of this book).
Secondly - Wes & Callie - be still my heart. They just really love each other. Even after all this time & seperation, the fire is burning so brightly. I think it's a real talent to be able to write intense love stories, where there is so much emotion - and outline the journey across so many years, keeping the reader enraptured (which is what I was, in case that wasn't clear). There were tears shed & i'm not an easy tear-shedder (for books).
Thirdly - I loved all the characters, including Max (Callie's dog). The MCs are great; they're not overdone but are clearly good people who are fighting their own demons & trying to figure out how to navigate life and tough decisions. All the supporting cast is really wonderful too. It's more like a family than a motorcycle club & they all come with their quirks & interactions, which you know is going to really make the series (that I am definitely going to be reading).
The list goes on, as to why I love this book - but the writing is just simple and fresh. It's straightforward, not overly flowery and emotional - but perfectly descriptive in all the right ways, and the right places.
10000000% recommend - this one is going on my re-read list.

So I have never read a motorcycle biker romance novel before, but I do now know what the hell I was missing. I started this novel yesterday...the audiobook format, so I could really feel my heart plunging into brokenness.
The emotional rollercoaster ride this novel threw into my face had me spiralling! I could not put this book down. I went from hating the MC with a passion, with feeling empathy for our main FC. Then it had to throw in the miscommunication trope!!
Luckily, as the story drives over your soul and makes you weep, the way that it laid out the past in the MC POV was a nice touch. The way that our FC went from fear, anger, and resentment, to relearning to trust and stand her ground was inspiring to read. Did I dislike the fact that the MC is an a*hole through most of the novel and even treated our FC like she was trash, yes. I did breathe a sigh of relief at the progress of hard redemption though.
Both of our characters were hurting. This novel not only has a second-chance romance, it has written what fate is supposed to withstand. Sometimes love is a battle.
So, if you want to cry along with me, as well as become obsessed with bikers, by all means, what are you waiting for? Go pick up this book.

You know when you read a book and you just stop and think why it took me so long to pick this one? It was me with”Where We Started”.
There was something so addictive and incredibly good about this story, this plot and everything in between. I loved the female main character so freaking much - her strength, her stubbornness, her thoughts and feelings - everything was spotted on and supported with an amazing witting that made me believe Callie was actually real.
This book has a lot of tropes I love: mc romance, second chance, childhood best-friends to lovers and found family - all the four are some of my favorite ever and this story nailed every single trope.
I couldn’t put this book down even when I tried my best to savor it - there was something about the new discovered and intriguing plot in every chapter that made me want to read more and more of it.
As I said before, Callie was definitely what turned the book so good to me but let me tell you that I adore Wesley as well - even when I hated him. I could understand him in the end and I was truly crossing my fingers for them.
The chemistry was insane and I loved their interactions SOOOOOO MUCH!
Thi was my first Ashley Muñoz book and definitely not my last.
